Depht of field - Photographers - Bettina Rheims

Bettina Rheims is a French photographer who also works as director and musician. She is famous for her portraits and her interest in the female body. Especially the latter photographs seem to be a spontanous exhibit of strippers and hookers to a (male) photographer but are actually staged with highly professional models. Even extremly exposed the women shown are never weak or victims but aware of their sexuality.

I always seem to struggle a bit with Bettina Rheims work. I like so much of it but then I sometimes feel almost offended by her way of viewing at women. Let's be honest, if she was a heterosexual male photographer I would consider the pictures sexist but since they are taken by a woman it makes a big difference.
